The 2025 Pedal 4 Patients: Tour de Kernow charity cycle has come to a triumphant conclusion, with riders completing more than 200 miles across Cornwall’s dramatic coastline and countryside to raise vital funds for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

Cyclists from across the county and further afield took on the three-day challenge, setting out from the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and travelling through Padstow to St Austell on day one. Day two brought the steep climbs of the Roseland Peninsula before the peloton swept into Falmouth, while the final day tested riders with driving rain, mist and fog as they circled the rugged tip of Cornwall. The closing leg included breathtaking stretches past Sennen, Zennor and St Ives before returning to Truro, where friends and families gathered to celebrate the riders’ achievement.

Despite the weather’s best attempts, spirits stayed high, and the finish line scenes were filled with pride and relief as the cyclists were welcomed home.

So far, more than £25,000 has been donated, with sponsorship still rolling in. These funds will directly benefit patients across Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust’s three hospitals – Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle and West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance – helping to fund enhanced facilities, patient support and staff initiatives.

This milestone year marks the fifth anniversary of Pedal 4 Patients, with the challenge continuing to grow in both scale and impact.

Karen Murrish, Fundraising Manager for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, praised all involved:

“We are absolutely delighted with the success of this year’s Pedal 4 Patients: Tour de Kernow. The determination shown by every rider was truly inspiring, and the funds raised will make a real and lasting difference to patients and staff at our hospitals. We are so grateful to our cyclists, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who helped make the event such a triumph.”

Special recognition goes to the organisations and individuals who played key roles behind the scenes: Team Sustrans, who generously gave their time to provide mechanical support; the dedicated safety riders who guided the group; Kier, TClarke and Nevada, who manned and supplied the rest stops; and Lanes and Dash vehicle rentals for getting the crew on the road.

Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, the official charity of the Trust, continues to raise funds to enhance patient care across Cornwall.
