A member of the historic Knights Templar, Chevalier William Dingle, has successfully raised funds for the Critical Care Fund of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity through a unique art auction, held to benefit the staff and patients of the Unit.
The event, which took place in October at the Knights Templar AGA, raised an impressive £1600 with the Knights Templar Charitable Fund making an additional contribution, bringing the final donation to £2000.
The auction featured a stunning collection of works by William and wife Gaynor, with all proceeds directed to supporting the Critical Care Unit Fund.

The art auction attracted a wide audience and featured an array of impressive works, many of which generated enthusiastic bidding. Guests were delighted by the event’s warm atmosphere and the opportunity to support such a meaningful cause.
Full Knight and Charity Officer, Chevalier William Dingle and visiting Charity Officer and Master of Arms, Chevalier Rodney Davies, were welcomed onto the unit to present the donation and meet some of the clinical team, who could explain how the funds will be used to impact the care of their patients.

The Critical Care Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust provides life-saving treatment for patients with severe and life-threatening conditions. The money raised during the auction will have a direct and lasting impact for patients, through enhancements to the unit for patients and families, but also in the provision of funding for advanced staff training and education.
Karen Murrish, Fundraising Manager for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, commented:
“We are thrilled with the outcome of this event and deeply grateful to the Knights Templar, William and Gaynor for the contribution of their artwork. The funds raised will make a tangible difference to our Critical Care Unit by enabling staff to access specialist training that ultimately benefits our patients.”
William, the driving force behind the fundraiser, reflected on the event’s success:
“The Knights Templar is about more than our historical roots. We are a modern organisation dedicated to service and charity. Supporting this cause aligns perfectly with our mission, and we’re proud to have contributed to such an important initiative for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.”
The Knights Templar, an international fraternal organisation inspired by the medieval order, remains deeply committed to charitable work. In addition to reflecting on the auction’s success, Chevalier William extended an invitation to those interested in joining:
“We welcome individuals from all walks of life who share our commitment to charity, fellowship, and community service. This event is a great example of how we can make a meaningful impact together.”
